Mischief, the company behind The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong and The Comedy About Spies, has revealed that co-writer Henry Shields and original cast member Allie Dart will join much of the original UK company for performances of Christmas Carol Goes Wrong at Manchester Opera House, Portsmouth’s Kings Theatre and the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.
The returning cast for these dates includes Matt Cavendish, Allie Dart, Sasha Frost, Henry Lewis, Chris Leask, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields and Greg Tannahill, with Matthew Biddulph, Siobhan Cha Cha, Orla O’Sullivan and Josh Patel-Foster serving as understudies.
The Manchester and Portsmouth engagements form part of the show’s second UK tour, which opens at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre on 27 October 2026 and continues across the country until March 2027.
Cast announcements for the remainder of the UK tour and the West End run at Wyndham’s Theatre, which begins on 18 December 2026, are still to be made.
The production will also make its North American premiere at Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre, marking Mischief’s return to the venue following the success of Peter Pan Goes Wrong in 2023.
Alongside the Los Angeles engagement, Christmas Carol Goes Wrong will also travel to Australia, with performances scheduled at HOTA on the Gold Coast and the Sydney Opera House in December 2026. Casting for the Australian production is yet to be announced.
Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, Christmas Carol Goes Wrong sees The Cornley Amateur Drama Society attempt to stage Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol. Their production is plagued by missing actors, delayed scenery, miscommunication and mounting tensions over who should play Scrooge.
The production premiered to sell-out audiences at London’s Apollo Theatre and is directed by Matt DiCarlo. The creative team also includes set designer Libby Todd, costume designer Roberto Surace, lighting designer David Howe and sound designer and composer Alexandra Faye Braithwaite.
