Sam Bradshaw Productions has announced a brand-new UK theatre tour of There’s a Snake in My School!, based on David Walliams’ number one bestselling picture book.

The ssssspectacularly funny new musical will open at Derby Theatre on 18 March 2026 and tour nationwide until July.

There’s a Snake in My School! follows Miranda, a young girl who brings her pet python, Penelope, to school on Bring-your-pet-to-school Day. But Miss Bloat, the horrid headmistress, is not impressed — and Penelope has other ideasssss…

David Walliams said, “I am thrilled that my funniest picture book is coming to the stage at last. I can’t wait to see the characters come to life. It is sure to be a fantastic show for families.”

The production is adapted for the stage by Jon Monie, with songs by Julien Salvia and Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal. Direction comes from Sam Bradshaw, with choreography by Ashley Nottingham (Starlight Express), musical direction by George Strickland (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), and design by Justin Williams (Your Lie In April).

Presented by Sam Bradshaw Productions — known for Mr Stink and Spot’s Birthday Party — the show promises silliness, shenanigans, and songs, plus an array of awesome animals.

The tour will visit over 30 venues across the UK, including Chipping Norton, Greenwich, Winchester, Bangor, Halifax, Leeds, Bristol, and Darlington, with more dates to be announced.

Aimed at children aged 3 and up, There’s a Snake in My School! encourages audiences to defend their friends and dare to be different.
