Katy Galloway Productions has announced the full cast for This is not a Happy Room, the dark comedy by Rosie Day, ahead of its upcoming run at Theatre Royal Windsor.

Declan Baxter joins the previously announced Amanda Abbington and Rosie Day, alongside Andrea Valls, Jazz Jenkins, Tom Kanji, and Alison Liney.

Directed by Hannah Price, This is not a Happy Room will play at Theatre Royal Windsor from 13 to 17 May 2025, following a successful run at the King’s Head Theatre earlier this spring.

Katy Galloway said today, “I’m really looking forward to bringing This is not a Happy Room to Windsor with such a talented company. It’s great to have Declan joining the cast for this next stage of the production.”

Rosie Day added, “It’s been amazing to see how audiences have connected with the show during its run at King’s Head. I’m so proud of what we’ve created, and I’m really excited to bring it to Windsor with this brilliant cast. Having the chance to share the story with new audiences in a new space is a real privilege.”

The cast includes Alison Liney as Agatha, Amanda Abbington as Esther, Andrea Valls as Laura, Declan Baxter as Simon, Jazz Jenkins as Hayley, Rosie Day as Elle, and Tom Kanji as Charles.

The creative team features Hannah Price (Director), Adrienne Quartly (Sound Design), Rory Beaton (Lighting Design), and Georgia de Grey (Set and Costume Design).

This is not a Happy Room follows the Hendersons, a happily dysfunctional family reuniting for their dad’s third (or fourth?) wedding. But when the death of his bachelorhood becomes an actual funeral, the family decides it would be a shame to waste the buffet.

The play has been described as “Saltburn meets Schitt’s Creek” and marks Rosie Day’s follow-up to her critically acclaimed Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon.
