Trafalgar Entertainment is working alongside campaign group We Make Events, to mark the week of 16 March by illuminating its West End theatre, Trafalgar Theatre, in red.
This is to mark a year today since the UK was placed into lockdown and live performance venues across the country closed their doors, some who have not been able to re-open in the past year.
“Trafalgar Theatre stands in solidarity with the live events industry and all those who have suffered in the pandemic. We want to send a message of hope and support to workers and their families, and let them know that they are very much valued and cherished. We will be back – with Jersey Boys in the summer,” said Joint CEO of Trafalgar Entertainment, Dame Rosemary Squire.
Co-founded by Sir Howard Panter and Dame Rosemary Squire, Trafalgar Entertainment is a premium international live entertainment business and home to Trafalgar Theatre, Theatre Royal Sydney, Trafalgar Theatre Productions, Live Broadcast Event Company/Trafalgar Releasing, Stagecoach Performing Arts Education Company, London Theatre Direct, Luke Shires Marketing, Jonathan Church Theatre Productions, Chiswick Cinema and More2Screen.
The Grade II listed building was acquired by Panter and Squire as they began to establish and build their new live entertainment business, Trafalgar Entertainment. Under the ownership of Trafalgar Entertainment, productions at the then Trafalgar Studios included transfers of sell out new British productions, the Bush Theatre’s Misty and National Theatre’s Nine Night, Killer Joe starring Orlando Bloom, Apologia starring Stockard Channing, Admissions starring Alex Kingston, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg starring Toby Stephens and Claire Skinner, The National Theatre’s A Taste of Honey starring Jodie Prenger and new British Musical Tom Morris’ The Grinning Man.
