UNCANNY I KNOW WHAT I SAW

Tilted in association with Curve presents Uncanny: I Know What I Saw created and performed by Danny Robins, based on the award-winning BBC Radio 4 /Bafflegab podcast UNCANNY.

Uncanny: I Know What I Saw is a thrilling new theatrical experience, written and performed by Danny Robins, creator of the hugely successful BBC Radio 4 smash hit podcasts, Uncanny, The Battersea Poltergeist and The Witch Farm and the award-winning Olivier-nominated West End play 2:22 – A Ghost Story.

Audiences will witness brand new real-life encounters with the paranormal – from ghosts to UFO sightings and other mysterious happenings – brought thrillingly to life in this new staging, which will open at the Curve Leicester on 10 October before embarking on an extensive 30-date UK tour until December with more dates to be announced.

Everyone knows a true ghost story, whether personally or the experience of a friend or a relative.  With roots in the oral tradition, ghosts reverberate through literature and across cultures, transcending time and distilling the ultimate violation of the natural order.  Uncanny: I Know What I Saw will pull back the veil of the everyday life to reveal the unsettling visions that lurk just out of sight, behind a door, on the staircase or even in that liminal space between being awake and asleep.

The production is part-theatre, re-imagined for the stage by a full creative team, and part-investigation with analysis from experts and contributions from the audience.

Uncanny is soon to be adapted as a new BBC 2 TV series, produced by BBC Studios.  Season 2 of the podcast will be broadcast on BBC Sounds and BBC Radio 4 this spring.

Danny Robins said ‘I’m incredibly excited to be bringing Uncanny out on tour around the country. Over the last few years, hundreds of people have sent me their real-life stories of ghost and UFO encounters. It seems the hauntings of today happen to ordinary people in everyday locations, but they’re no less frightening or strange than the classic tales of Charles Dickens, M.R James or The Woman in Black.  In this live show, I’ve picked some of the best stories I’ve received, stories that have never been heard elsewhere, to scare you senseless! But as with the podcast, we’ll also be trying to solve the mysteries behind the stories. What really happened? And I want to hear your stories too! Prepare for an epic, creepy night as together, we try to crack that biggest of all mysteries – are we really alone – or is there something out there?”

Tilted founder Sam Hodges said ‘Uncanny has captured the imagination of thousands of people in this country and it’s an eerie kind of pleasure to be working with the inimitable Danny to create an experience that we hope will be both immersive and surprising for Uncanny fans and paranormal sceptics alike’.

The recommended age limit is 10+ but parental discretion advised and the running time is 90 minutes.  More information can be found here.
