Speakerphone Productions has announced that new musical comedy Under the Influence will transfer to London’s King’s Head Theatre following its critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Written by The Gilbert Twins and Shona Maule, the production will run from 8 to 26 September 2026, with a press night scheduled for 11 September.
The show follows identical twins Carine and Frances, who become a viral sensation before finding themselves in couples therapy as the world’s most co-dependent non-couple.
What begins as a therapeutic intervention soon spirals into a musical reckoning that threatens to unravel their lifelong partnership.
The production has been described as “funny, ridiculous, incredibly catchy and properly moving as well” in a five-star review from For The Plot Magazine.
Known online as @thegilberttwins, Carine and Frances have built an audience of more than three million followers across social media. Under the Influence marks a return to their musical theatre roots, drawing on their real-life experiences of attending couples therapy together.
The musical explores the complexities of sisterhood, the pressures of online fame and the challenge of finding an individual voice while navigating an intensely shared life.

Under the Influence is directed by Georgie Rankcom, with book and lyrics by Carine Gilbert and Frances Gilbert. Shona Maule provides lyrics, composition and musical direction, with lighting design by Tom Turner and associate direction by Michelle Payne.
