Enter a perilous world of murderous step-mothers, devious Kings and fearless children. Philip Pullman’s Grimm Tales are classic fairy tales, distilled from centuries of storytelling, timeworn but honed for the next generation to discover anew. This collection of readings, some familiar and some not so, takes us to the very heart of imagination and speaks of the things it finds there, fear, courage, compassion and wonder.
The cast of story-tellers include Nadia Albina, Le Gateau Chocolat, Colin Morgan, Cecilia Noble, Andy Umerah and Susan Wokoma who will each tell one story, creating a rich and potent world alive with the strange and the familiar.
Anansi the Spider Re-spun will be available to stream on the Unicorn’s YouTube channel for Black History Month, 1 – 31 October.
These fun and lively short stories, performed by Afia Abusham, Sapphire Joy and Juliet Okotie, will be accompanied by new free creative learning resources and CPD for teachers to use with pupils aged 4 – 8 to explore the Anansi tales and their place in Black history and culture.
