VAULT Creative Arts – the former producers of VAULT Festival –  announce the relaunch of their unique bar, café, and performance space The Glitch this winter, following an extensive re-development.

The venue’s current performance space fits 30 seats, and shares the building’s basement with a large office. But, thanks to funding from Lambeth Council, UKSPF, and Central Government, they are transforming the space into a brand new, 55-seat, in-the-round (flexible) venue. This will include a new technical rig, a new dressing room and separate office space. Upstairs will remain a vibrant bar, café, and social space. This redevelopment will help to further cement The Glitch as a vibrant creative and social hub on Lower Marsh, Waterloo.

Alongside the renovation comes a revised approach to programming. Staying true to the ambition of VAULT Festival, their approach will showcase brilliant creativity whilst generating hundreds of meaningful development opportunities for early-career artists each year. They will be offering the space out at a 70/30 box-office split – making them one of the most affordable venues in the city for Fringe artists. This is alongside the introduction of a new script development scheme, networking opportunities, and their residency programme which provides free rehearsal and performance space to young companies.

They’ll also be maintaining their festival approach with up to three shows performing each evening, and a range of social events in the bar upstairs. This will help to mirror the enticing, vibrant, electric atmosphere at the festival, all year round. For audiences, they will be retaining their “Pay Less/Pay More” scheme that helped hundreds of people access shows during the VAULT Festival.

Newly appointed Artistic Director and CEO Oli Savage said: “The loss of VAULT Festival was a true tragedy, and the industry is still feeling its shockwaves. In pushing forward, we’re trying to do the memory of the festival justice, by continuing to create unrivalled opportunities, industry-leading creative quality, and enticing social experiences. At the moment, we’re really excited to be delivering that at The Glitch – we think the venue has a bright and exciting future ahead. And we really hope that – whether it’s at The Glitch, a festival, or some other crazy project – we’ll continue delivering that impact for many years to come!”
