This week, VAULT Creative Arts – the former producers of VAULT Festival – are throwing the doors open to their newly refurbished performance space at The Glitch, Lower Marsh.
Thanks to funding from Lambeth Council, UKSPF, and Central Government, they have successfully completed the transformation of their basement venue into a brand new, 55-seat, in-the-round space.
In honour of their roots, they will be hosting a festival-style programme at the venue, with up to three shows each evening. This first programme boasts 8 pieces of original writing in the venue’s 7pm headline slot, ranging from Brown Girl Noise – a new musical about the experience of South Asian women in the UK – to Red Planet Revolution – a piece of technical, interactive theatre about an uprising on the planet Mars.
Around these, the “early” (17:30) and “late” (20:30) slots are filled with up-and-coming comedy, works in progress, and new projects. All while the bar upstairs will continue to offer a range of social and community-focused events throughout the week!
Artistic Director Oli Savage said: “We are thrilled to start this new chapter in the life of VAULT. The programme for this season is looking vibrant, diverse, and exciting, and we’ll be expanding on this over the coming months with more for artists, including a script development scheme and networking events. This season – and the ongoing work at The Glitch – will offer unrivalled opportunities, industry-leading creative quality, and enticing social experiences. Through this, we’re honouring the memory of VAULT Festival, whilst looking forward to a bright new future.”
The first headline show of the inaugural season – Brown Girl Noise – runs from Wednesday 22nd January to Monday 10th February. This and future headline shows will run at 7pm every day except Tuesdays. The Glitch is a vibrant bar/café and unique creative space in the heart of Waterloo. By day, we serve good coffee, cheesy toasties, and snacks, making the venue a great place to meet with friends, work in comfort, or relax. By night, we transform into a lively bar and performance space, offering a range of intimate theatre, comedy, music, cabaret, and special one-off events. Through all our work, we strive to combine enticing social experiences with excellent creative output. The Glitch is more than just a performance venue. It’s a place to be.
