Welcome to Wandsworth has announced Wandsworth Live, a month-long programme of live music events marking Independent Venue Week.

Running from 14 February to 21 March, the series coincides with Independent Venue Week, which takes place from 26 January to 1 February 2026.

The programme will showcase Wandsworth’s grassroots music scene, highlighting independent venues and an eclectic mix of local and international artists.

Events will take place across a range of venues including The Bedford, Sambrook’s Brewery and Taproom, The Magic Garden and World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens.

The announcement forms part of Wandsworth’s year as the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture, with the council continuing to spotlight live music as a key part of community life.

Wandsworth Council Deputy Leader, Kemi Akinola, said: ‘We are so lucky here in Wandsworth to have such a vibrant live music scene. Live music is not only about the performance, it’s about enjoying it in the company of others, creating shared experiences that help reduce isolation and bring our communities closer together. We want to ensure local people have the chance to soak up the energy of a live gig, celebrate our fantastic musicians, and return again to venues well beyond our term as the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture.’

Justine Simons OBE, London’s Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, said: ‘Grassroots venues are the heart and soul of the music industry and an essential part of our capital’s life at night. For decades these wonderful venues have provided a stage for the stars of the future and a great night out for Londoners, so it’s fantastic that Wandsworth will be showcasing some of the borough’s finest spaces and artists as part of its year as the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture, as we build a better London for everyone.’

Highlights of the programme include live music at the first ever Tooting Food Festival on 14 and 15 February at Tooting and Broadway Market.

On 17 February, The Bedford hosts a free evening featuring Adrian Ego, Dienne Déon, Emerson, Luca Volpe and Omer Kaan.

Sambrook’s Live runs from 26 to 28 February, culminating in a headline performance from Wandsworth local India Button, with more artists to be announced.

Nate James, Sambrook’s Brewery and Taproom Marketing and Events Coordinator, said: ‘Live music venues are the lifeblood of our local culture. They give local artists a place to grow, communities a place to gather, and neighbourhoods their character and energy. In Wandsworth, these spaces are vital as they bring people together, support local talent, and keep our cultural scene thriving. At Sambrook’s, we believe a brewery and Taproom should be more than just great beer; it should be a platform for creativity, connection and shared experiences. Sambrook’s Live is our way of celebrating and protecting that spirit, and making sure live music continues to have a home here for years to come.’

International Women’s Day will be marked at The Magic Garden on 7 March with performances from Chewy She, DJ Queen Kong and more.

A classical and contemporary programme follows at World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens on 12 March, featuring pianist Kamilla Arku alongside visual artist Jordan Söderberg Mills.

Sahana Gero MBE, Founder and Artistic Director of World Heart Beat Music Academy and World Heart Beat CIC, said: ‘We’re proud to be part of Wandsworth Live during this extraordinary year as London Borough of Culture. To celebrate the creativity, diversity and musical excellence that World Heart Beat exists for is really important and powerful. Inviting everyone to inspiring live experiences that bring artists and communities together is vital especially in our world today. At World Heart Beat, we believe music thrives when it’s shared in neighbourhoods, public spaces, and places where everyone feels welcome.’

Tony Moore, music curator at The Bedford, said: ‘Live music is the lifeblood of a community, and for over two decades we have been proud to be part of the vibrant Wandsworth community, programming and presenting unique, compelling and consistent shows that feature the best and brightest of new and emerging talent.’

Welcome to Wandsworth is also inviting local promoters, venues and artists to submit additional events taking place between 16 February and 21 March.
