42nd Street were today announced as the winners of the third annual West End Bake Off in aid of theatrical charity Acting for Others. The winners, chosen by judges choreographer Arlene Phillips and Olivier Award-winning actress Janie Dee, were revealed at the event held today at St Pauls Actors Church in Covent Garden.

42nd Street was crowned the winner of West End Bake Off after competing against 16 other teams, including Kinky Boots, The Play That Goes Wrong, School of Rock, The Mousetrap, Les Misérables, Phantom Of The Opera, The Book of Mormon, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, Don Juan in Soho, Mamma Mia!, Thriller live!, The Great Gatsby, Iris Theatre, Stepping Out, The Girls and industry paper The Stage. They follow in the footsteps of The Secret Garden which won the second West End Bake Off in 2016 and which raised over £6000 for the charity.

Commenting on the winner, judge Arlene Phillips said: “It is possibly the most spectacular baking spread I’ve ever seen in my life!  There is so much to look at.  Everything is perfectly, visually baked and the work they put into that is extraordinary.  Talk about 42 hours, it must have taken 142 hours!”
