Brixton House has announced its new season, celebrating communities and new voices while continuing its mission to be a creative home for artists across disciplines.
Running from 24 June 2026 to 26 February 2027, the programme brings together theatre, poetry, comedy, live podcasts and family activity, alongside major partnerships with organisations including Clean Break and Rampage Sound.
The season opens with Baby, a new Clean Break co-production written by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti and directed by Milli Bhatia.
Drawing on Bhatti’s experience working with Clean Break, the play explores motherhood within the criminal justice system and tells a story of survival and resilience.
Ruth Hawkins, Brixton House Executive Creative Producer, said: “I am thrilled to welcome back pioneering Clean Break with Baby, a beautifully crafted new play by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti shining a light on motherhood in the judicial system, and announcing the return of our flagship artistic development programme, Housemates Festival, back bigger and bolder for its fourth year. We are continually supporting new artists, delivering opportunities and opening up our space at a time when it’s most needed.”
Anna Herrmann, Clean Break Artistic Director and Joint CEO, added: “I am delighted for Clean Break to return to Brixton House with our new co-production this autumn, following our previous association in 2024. I have relished the work I have seen here over the past few years, as they hone their growing reputation for telling important contemporary stories, welcoming and supporting artists and offering something unique to the communities they serve. I can’t think of a better home for the gut-punching and urgent story of Baby, that we will bring to the stage in October.”
The venue’s flagship Housemates festival returns for its fourth year, expanding to feature seven new writers alongside open mic nights, readings and industry conversations throughout September.
This year’s writers include Alejandra Chamorro Cuevas, Max Hyner, Lara Grace Ilori, Abir Mohammad, Razak Osman, Ariana Xeno and curator Danny Bailey.
Elsewhere in the programme, Emma Frankland premieres her acclaimed show No Apologies in London following its Edinburgh Festival Fringe success.
Award-winning artist LULA.XYZ also joins the line-up with I AM – One of Many, a multi-sensory solo work blending music, movement and digital storytelling.
Beyond theatre, Brixton House strengthens its reputation as a multidisciplinary hub with events including Jawdance, the celebrated poetry night by Apples and Snakes, and the National Poetry Collectives Showcase presented with UniSlam.
The season also features a live podcast recording from Kelechi Okafor and a book launch from bestselling author Candice Carty-Williams.
Community engagement remains central to the venue’s work, with initiatives such as the Rampage Sound DJ Institution, youth programmes, and free family activities celebrating Brixton’s Caribbean and Latinx heritage.
The venue will also become the new home of Latinx Youth Theatre and launch The Biyi Bándélé Writers Award, supporting emerging writers of African diaspora heritage.
