The critically acclaimed musical Cable Street returns to London this winter, following two sold-out runs that captivated audiences. The production opens at Marylebone Theatre from Friday 16th January to Saturday 28th February 2026, with a press night scheduled for Monday 26th January at 7.30pm.
Set against the backdrop of the historic events of 4th October 1936, Cable Street tells the story of ordinary Londoners who stood united against the rise of fascism. Jews, Irish dockers, trade unionists, communists and locals came together in defiance, changing history with their chant: “They Shall Not Pass.”
The musical features a contemporary score by Tim Gilvin (Unfortunate, The Jingleclaw) and a book by Alex Kanefsky (All For Your Delight, The Boy and the Mermaid). Their collaboration brings to life the stories of Sammy, Mairead and Ron as they navigate a turbulent time in East London.
Directed by Adam Lenson (Public Domain, The Rink), the production also features musical supervision by Tamara Saringer, choreography by Jevan Howard-Jones, and set design by BAFTA long-listed Yoav Segal. Costume design is by Lu Herbert, sound design by Charlie Smith, and lighting design by Sam Waddington and Ben Jacobs.
Producer Dylan Schlosberg of 10 to 4 Productions returns alongside associate producer Neil Marcus. Casting will be announced soon.
Director Adam Lenson said, “The Battle of Cable Street is more important now than ever. I’m honoured to be once again able to direct this thrilling new musical about this pivotal moment in London’s history.”
