Casson & Friends will bring Shed Stories back on tour this autumn, visiting venues and community spaces across England from 16 October to 13 November 2026.
Created from interviews with members of Men’s Sheds around the country, Shed Stories combines theatre, movement and documentary storytelling to explore the importance of these thriving community spaces, where people come together to make, repair and repurpose.
With more than 1,200 Men’s Sheds currently operating across the UK, the production highlights the role they play in supporting mental health, reducing loneliness and fostering connection, particularly among older men.
Choreographed by Tim Casson and created and devised with Matthew Winston and Deepraj Singh, the show is built from more than 24 hours of interviews with shed members and organisers. Set elements for the production have been crafted by Casson’s father, Alan Casson, in his own Men’s Shed.
Staged with audiences surrounding the performance space, Shed Stories aims to bring theatre-goers closer to the stories at its heart while exploring themes of masculinity, ageing, friendship, creativity and community.
The production follows Casson & Friends’ commitment to creating interactive, community-focused work and builds on earlier projects including The Allotment Project and Preppers: The Show. Following its premiere in 2025, the production has already toured extensively across the UK.
Tim Casson said: “Since its premiere in April 2025, Shed Stories has reached hundreds of audience members at more than 30 venues across the UK, and we’re delighted to be opening the shed doors again this autumn for our fourth UK tour!
“What’s been really special is seeing how warmly audiences have responded to the show, and to the incredible stories from the world of ‘Men’s Sheds’ that inspired it. At its heart are the real voices and experiences of the ‘shedders’ we met around the country, opening up big, important conversations about masculinity, mental health, ageing, friendship, creativity and community – but always with plenty of humour, our trademark movement and, of course, biscuits!
“We’re incredibly proud that the show continues to connect with people and really excited to introduce a whole new set of audiences to the wonderful world of Men’s Sheds this autumn.”
Performances are scheduled at Farnham Maltings, Poulton Community Hall, Halton Mill, Glasshouse Arts Centre, Key Theatre Peterborough and Goostrey Village Hall between October and November.
The creative team includes original music by Paul Rogerson, set element design by Alan Casson, production support and captioning by Samuel Parker, and company producer Nick Sweeting. Performances are given by Deepraj Singh and Matthew Winston.
