The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry and Gate Theatre, Dublin have announced full casting for their co‑production of Poor, which will run at the Belgrade from Friday 1 May to Saturday 9 May following a limited season in Dublin.

Aisling O’Mara will play Katriona, with Hilda Fay cast as Tilly. Aidan Kelly joins the production as Tony, while Sue Collins, John Cronin, Shauna Harris and Ben Morris form the ensemble. Hollie Lawlor and Pippa Owens will alternate in the role of Younger Katriona.

Poor is written by Katriona O’Sullivan and adapted for the stage by Sonya Kelly. The production is directed by Róisín McBrinn. The creative team includes set design by Aedin Cosgrove, costume design by Lara Campbell, sound design and composition by Sinéad Diskin, and music direction by Jess Williams.

Based on O’Sullivan’s best‑selling memoir, Poor charts her journey from a childhood in Coventry and Birmingham marked by poverty, addiction and homelessness, through her move to Dublin as a teenager and her path to earning a PhD from Trinity College Dublin. The story highlights resilience, community and family, and features music that has shaped her life.

The world premiere production aims to spark conversation around critical social issues, celebrating hope and perseverance.
