Full casting has been announced for Atlantis, a new play by Emily White, co-produced by Theatr Clwyd and Chichester Festival Theatre.

The world premiere opens at Theatr Weston at Theatr Clwyd, running from 6 June to 4 July 2026, with a press night on 10 June.

The production then transfers to the Minerva Theatre at Chichester Festival Theatre from 18 July to 15 August, with a further press night on 22 July.

Set in a Welsh coastal community on the frontline of the climate crisis, Atlantis is described as an epic family drama charting decades of change as rising sea levels threaten to erase homes and histories.

As Bryn fights to save his home from the encroaching sea, his town is told it will become Britain’s first climate refugee settlement.

At the same time, Gwen and her grandchildren take to the streets to demand change, testing family bonds and intergenerational loyalties.

The cast includes Catrin Aaron, Richard Elfyn, Alfie Llewellyn, Eirlys Lovell-Jones, Sara Otung and Vivien Parry.

At Theatr Clwyd, they are joined by Albie Chamberlain, Cole Davies Hughes, Florence Edwards, Emily Hughes, Etta McGee and Gwennan Smith.

At the Minerva Theatre, additional cast members include Hector Arnold, Rex Bamber, Lyra Brunton, Iris Dempsey, Benjamin Miglioli and Ivy Quoi.

Winner of the George Devine Award, Emily White’s play is inspired by real communities facing displacement caused by rising sea levels.

White said, “This play is about a family and what is at stake for them… it is a human story as much as it is a climate story.”

The production is directed by Guy Jones, with design by Frankie Bradshaw, lighting by Joshua Pharo, sound design by Holly Khan, movement direction by Jess Williams and musical direction by Jennifer Pearson.
