Dance Umbrella has announced that Eshu at the Crossroads will be part of its 2026 festival programme, bringing a joyful family-friendly adventure to venues across London this October.
Created by Afro-Cuban choreographer Miguel Altunaga in collaboration with pioneering puppetry company Theatre-Rites, Eshu at the Crossroads blends dance, live performance and puppetry in a story inspired by Yorubic culture, myth and storytelling.
The production invites audiences into a magical world where every choice can change the path ahead.
Set at a mysterious crossroads, the story follows a traveller faced with an important decision. Watching over them is a powerful rooster, while nearby waits Eshu, a playful and unpredictable trickster spirit who delights in mischief, surprises and unexpected possibilities.
Designed for audiences aged five and above, the production explores themes of choice, destiny and imagination through a visually rich fusion of movement and puppetry.
Eshu at the Crossroads will tour to The Albany on 24 October, CASA at Brixton House on 25 October and The Place on 27 October as part of Dance Umbrella 2026.
Established in 1978, Dance Umbrella is London’s annual international dance festival, presenting contemporary dance from UK and international artists across venues, public spaces and online platforms throughout the capital.
