Michael McKeever’s acclaimed off-Broadway play Daniel’s Husband will make its long-awaited UK premiere at London’s Marylebone Theatre this winter.
Presented by Plastered Productions, the production will run for a strictly limited season from 4 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, with a national press night scheduled for 9 December.
Daniel’s Husband is a powerful and emotionally resonant drama that explores the nature of love, commitment, and the moral complexities of modern relationships.
Daniel and Mitchell appear to have it all—a beautiful home, successful careers, and a deep love for one another. But when an unexpected crisis strikes, their future is thrown into turmoil, forcing them to confront the very foundations of their relationship.
The production will be directed by Alan Souza, who said:
“I always think the best plays allow a wealth of insight into the human condition, acting as powerful stimulants for personal reflection and evolution. At its core, Daniel’s Husband seems both a humanist parable as well as a persuasive polemic for marriage. It challenges audiences in essential ways, urging us to confront and re-evaluate our most personal ideas of what family means. Intricately layered and emotionally gripping, I look forward to bringing the play to London audiences.”
Daniel’s Husband premiered in 2015 at Island City Stage in Florida, winning three Carbonell Awards including Best New Work. It later transferred to New York’s Cherry Lane Theatre and Westside Theatre, earning a nomination for an Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Work.
The UK production features set and costume design by Lee Newby, lighting design by Jamie Platt, sound design by Sarah Weltman, and casting by Arthur Carrington. General management is by James Steel Productions, with production management by Charlie Rayner for Production Solutions Group.
Plastered Productions, known for creating “plays with purpose,” sees Daniel’s Husband as the ideal choice for its London debut. The company aims to spark dialogue and inspire compassion through theatre.
