RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalist Divina de Campo will lead the London premiere of Amanda – The Night Before Me this autumn.

The acclaimed European musical runs at The Bridgehouse Theatre from 22 September to 10 October 2026, following sold-out runs and critical success in Austria and Germany.

This powerful solo musical tells the story of Amanda on the eve of life-changing gender-affirming surgery, as she reflects on her past and prepares to step fully into her authentic self.

Blending razor-sharp humour with an emotive score, the production explores identity, resilience and self-acceptance through a moving musical monologue filled with memories of love, hardship and transformation.

In the role, de Campo performs fourteen characters, bringing to life the voices that have shaped Amanda’s journey, while showcasing their four-octave vocal range.

Performer Divina de Campo said: “For me this is such an important piece for Rory to bring to the UK right now. The UK has slipped down the the index of LGBT rights from the top to 22nd and a lot of that has to do with the hostile environment towards trans people. This is a hopeful, honest and beautiful story of self discovery and acceptance. I’m so excited to be able to tackle this wonderful piece.”

The musical was originally written and composed in German by Rory Six, based on conversations with a trans woman friend, and has been adapted into English by acclaimed lyricist Charles Hart.

Writer and composer Rory Six said: “Amanda is a story that dares you to live authentically. At its heart, it’s about the courage to be true to yourself, the simple power of ‘love is love,’ and the fundamental right of every person to exist without apology. That’s why I hope people watch it — because in a world that constantly pressures us to conform, this show is a reminder that your truth is worth celebrating.”

Direction comes from Rory Six and Jerôme Knols, with orchestration by Perrin Manzer Allen, set design by Timo Verse and lighting by Stephanie Affleck.
