At times the band can be loud, audience participation encouraged

Following a sell-out Australian tour and a critically acclaimed season at Brisbane Powerhouse, Tropical North Queensland artists Roz Pappalardo and Rachel Terry bring their hit production All Fired Up: an 80’s Mixtape Musical to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for its international debut.

This high-energy show is a vibrant fusion of rock concert, aerobics class, and comedy, chronicling Tammy Tooth’s midlife crisis and her journey of rediscovery. When an 80s mixtape transports Tammy back to 1987, she meets her teenage self and reconnects with the life-defining music of her youth.

Winner of the Best Theatre Award at the 2023 Adelaide Fringe, All Fired Up stars Rachel Terry alongside her real-life daughter Scarlett, as they time travel through iconic 80s hits. Roz Pappalardo plays DJ Neon, a charismatic radio host who guides the characters and audience through the story with wisdom and a soundtrack of 15 classic songs, performed live by a five-piece band.

The production also features a unique community engagement programme, inviting women aged 40 and over to participate in 80s-inspired aerobics workshops. These culminate in a live on-stage appearance during the show’s finale, offering participants a chance to shine. Over 400 women have taken part in Australia, with more than 20 travelling to Edinburgh to reprise their roles.

Created by Box Jelly Theatre, All Fired Up is a heartfelt tribute to the resilience and rediscovery that often comes in mid-life. It’s a celebration of joy, music, and the power of dance to reclaim space and identity.
