Bachelors of Fine Arts premieres at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a dark musical comedy set inside a high-pressure American drama school.

Written by Riley Elton McCarthy and Hope Johansen, who also perform in the show, the piece follows two students navigating an elite conservatoire environment where competition, ambition and vulnerability collide. What begins as friendship gradually evolves into something more complicated, as the pressures of the institution begin to surface.

Blending satire with a pop and country-inspired score, the production takes aim at the culture of performance training, exploring how artistic institutions shape behaviour, relationships and identity. As tensions rise, the show exposes a world where success often comes at a personal cost.

Directed by Foxy, the production builds on Method in Madness Co’s reputation for bold, actor-driven work, offering a sharp and entertaining look at the realities behind the pursuit of artistic excellence.

Bachelors of Fine Arts runs at theSpace @ Surgeon’s Hall from 07 – 29 August at 20:05. Tickets are on sale here
