Rosalie Minnitt returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with Clementine II, a new chapter for her critically acclaimed character following sold-out runs, Soho Theatre residencies and UK tours.
Lady Clementine is back, embarking on a fresh adventure as she leaves her small town behind and heads for the excitement of the Big City. Armed with little sense and even less sensibility, she attempts to navigate high society, scandal and self-discovery, all while convinced her long-overdue genius is about to be recognised.
Blending period drama with contemporary comedy, the show sees Minnitt expand on a character that has already captured audiences and critics alike. With comparisons to a Gen Z Jane Austen, Clementine’s chaotic journey explores ambition, identity and the pressures of modern womanhood.
Minnitt, known for appearances on BBC One’s How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge) and her Radio 4 work, has developed a distinctive voice in character comedy. Reflecting on the show’s impact, she said: “Clementine celebrates the complicated parts of being a woman in the 2020s… if someone asked me why I love women and love being a woman, I’d show them this show.”
With its blend of sharp writing and energetic performance, Clementine II looks set to build on the success of its predecessor and delight Fringe audiences once again.
Clementine II runs at Pleasance Courtyard from 5 – 30 August at 15:35. Tickets are on sale here
