Following a sold-out debut at the Hollywood Fringe in 2024, Los Angeles artist Natalie Grove brings her autobiographical solo show Jello Brain to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for its UK premiere. Running from 1–23 August at Olive Studio, Greenside @ George Street, the show is a heartfelt and humorous exploration of early-onset Alzheimer’s, inspired by Grove’s experience caring for her mother.

Directed by Terra Mackintosh, co-writer and producer of Best Summer Ever (a New York Times Critics’ Pick), Jello Brain sees Grove portray a range of characters—from healthcare workers to family members—while navigating the emotional and mental toll of caregiving. The show balances raw vulnerability with sharp wit, offering a deeply personal yet universally resonant story.

Grove says, “So much of this illness is extremely isolating and I want to change that. With this show, I’m forcing the conversation.” Mackintosh adds, “Natalie finds delicious comedy in the midst of tragedy. Everyone who saw her LA run left the theatre changed.”

With sound design by ALSO, the show is a moving tribute to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring bond between mother and child.
