From acclaimed double act Britney, Jitters arrives at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as a razor-sharp and darkly funny new two-hander exploring marriage, grief and the complexities of modern relationships.

Set in the hour before a wedding, the play follows Charlotte as she prepares to walk down the aisle, only to be confronted by her future stepdaughter, El, who is the same age as her. What begins as awkward conversation soon spirals into a blistering and emotionally charged exchange that threatens to derail the ceremony entirely.

As secrets and tensions rise to the surface, the pair confront questions of beauty, privilege, money and motherhood, all while grappling with their own vulnerabilities. El is still reeling from the loss of her mother, while Charlotte maintains a composed exterior that slowly begins to crack.

Written by Ellen Robertson and performed by Robertson and Charly Clive, Jitters marks the duo’s first theatre collaboration following their success in sketch comedy. Directed by Emily Burns, the production brings together sharp wit and emotional intensity in a story about what it means to build a life with someone in an uncertain world.

Jitters runs at Summerhall (Old Lab) from 6 – 30 August at 12:00. Tickets are on sale here
