Double Fringe First-winning playwright Lynda Radley premieres her latest work Lifelong at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, presented by Pepperdine Scotland in association with Scissor Kick.

Set in a not-so-distant future, the play imagines a world where revolutionary advances in longevity science allow a privileged few to dramatically extend their lives. Inside a secluded, high-end facility, residents follow strict regimes designed by artificial intelligence to optimise their health, happiness and longevity.

Shielded from the outside world, this carefully controlled existence begins to unravel when an outsider enters the system, disrupting routines and raising uncomfortable questions. As tensions surface, Lifelong explores who truly benefits from technological progress, and at what cost.

Radley’s speculative drama draws on contemporary concerns about inequality, power and the ethics of scientific innovation. It poses urgent questions about a future in which wealth could determine not just quality of life, but its length.

Directed by Hollace Starr, the production brings together a large ensemble cast as part of Pepperdine Scotland’s ongoing collaboration between emerging performers and leading playwrights. Known for tackling complex political and social themes, the company continues that tradition with this ambitious new work.
