Following a five-star, award-winning run at Adelaide Fringe, METEORS arrives at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for its international premiere. Written and performed by Melissa Pullinger, this one-woman show offers a raw, funny and unflinching exploration of grief, family and the unexpected moments of humour that accompany loss.
Presented by The CRAM Collective, the show draws on Pullinger’s personal experience of losing her mother at 20. Through a non-linear journey, METEORS examines the aftermath of grief, from diagnosis to funeral to the surreal everyday realities that follow, including the overwhelming presence of lasagnes and the awkwardness of navigating life and relationships without a parent.
Blending heartfelt storytelling with comedy, the production invites audiences to laugh, cry and reflect on the complexities of grief, particularly for young people. Pullinger’s candid approach opens up conversations often left unspoken, creating a space where vulnerability and humour coexist.
Developed over seven years and enriched through collaboration with director Connor Reidy, the show reflects a shared understanding of loss. Accompanied by an original soundscape by Will Spartalis, METEORS explores grief in all its forms: painful, absurd, tender and unexpectedly beautiful.
With strong critical acclaim and multiple awards behind it, METEORS promises a deeply moving and relatable experience that resonates far beyond its personal origins.
Meteors runs at Summerhall from 06 – 31 August at 21:00. Tickets are on sale hereÂ
