Award-winning performer and songwriter Sarah McGuinness invites Fringe audiences into a deeply personal and musically rich evening with Sarah McGuinness: Grit, Glitter and Gaslight.

Blending memoir, cabaret and live concert, the show explores themes of identity, family and reinvention through storytelling and song. McGuinness reflects on a life shaped by ambition and an enduring search for belonging, tracing her journey from her upbringing in Derry to international creative success.

The performance features an eclectic soundtrack including songs by David Bowie, Kate Bush, Kurt Weill, Stephen Sondheim and Kander & Ebb’s Cabaret, alongside McGuinness’s own original compositions. Through music and memory, she revisits pivotal moments, influential relationships and the choices that have defined her life and career.

McGuinness has built an impressive career as a songwriter, director and designer, collaborating with Eddie Izzard for more than two decades and contributing music to film and television projects including the Emmy-nominated documentary Believe: The Eddie Izzard Story. Her acclaimed song Mama Can You See Me Now has been remixed by producers William Orbit and Mickey Petralia, while her work continues to draw inspiration from artists ranging from Bowie and Motown to classic film composers.

Promising humour, honesty and emotional insight, Sarah McGuinness: Grit, Glitter and Gaslight offers a compelling portrait of a life lived creatively and fearlessly.
