Steve Burns: Alive comes to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for its UK premiere, offering a deeply personal and thought-provoking solo performance from the former Blue’s Clues host.

Written by and starring Steve Burns, with co-writing by Matthew Freeman, the show explores the bizarre experience of being declared dead by the internet while very much alive. Drawing on the rumours that followed his departure from children’s television, Burns reflects on the impact of misinformation and the strange phenomenon of public mythmaking.

Through storytelling and introspection, the piece examines the nature of parasocial relationships, questioning how audiences form connections with public figures and how those relationships can distort reality. The show moves beyond personal anecdote to explore wider themes of identity, truth and connection in the digital age.

Directed by Sivan Battat, the production offers a compelling and human perspective on fame and its unintended consequences, blending humour with emotional depth.

Part of a double offering at the Fringe from producer George Strus, Steve Burns: Alive brings a unique and timely narrative to the stage, anchored by Burns’ own lived experience.
