The Pigeon Factory makes its UK premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, delivering an absurd and surreal satire of modern productivity.
Written and performed by Aaron O’Neill, the one-man show centres on Walden, a man convinced he runs a factory from his suburban home, staffed entirely by pigeons. As he introduces audiences to his meticulously controlled world, cracks in the illusion begin to appear.
Combining physical performance with voiceovers and projection, the piece creates a vivid and unsettling portrait of isolation, ambition and delusion. Beneath its comedy, the show examines the pressures of constant productivity and the impact of societal expectations around success and identity.
O’Neill said, “It’s exactly the kind of weirdo-fuelled oddity that people ought to be stumbling upon at a fringe festival.”
The Pigeon Factory runs at Underbelly Cowgate from 05 – 30 August at 12:55. Tickets are on sale here
