From multi-award-winning Fringe favourite Philip Stokes comes This Is Not America, a gripping new thriller making its world premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Presented by Richard Jordan Productions, 412, and Lawrence Batley Theatre in association with the Pleasance, the production explores the darker side of the American Dream in 2026.
When a dead body is discovered in a Brooklyn house, three identical brothers are taken in for questioning. What follows is a tense and unsettling unravelling of secrets and lies, as the story spirals into an increasingly nightmarish exploration of truth, identity, and power.
Philip Stokes has built a reputation for hard-hitting, socially engaged work, with previous productions including Heroin(e) for Breakfast, Jesus, Jane Mother and Me, and Shellshocked. His plays have earned international acclaim, multiple awards, and sell-out runs across the globe, cementing his reputation as one of contemporary theatre’s most distinctive voices.
The piece is performed by Jack Stokes, who has already garnered significant recognition, including Best Edinburgh Fringe Solo Performance and an Adelaide Critics Circle Award. His previous collaborations with Philip Stokes have consistently attracted critical praise, marking this latest production as one to watch.
With its urgent themes and intense storytelling, This Is Not America promises to be a provocative addition to this year’s Fringe programme.
