Twitch, a haunting and surreal one-person play by Liliana Padilla, makes its UK premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, presented by Breaking the Binary Theatre.

Performed by Joslyn DeFreece, the show follows a mother searching for her missing son in a disorienting world where reality and imagination blur. Confined to her couch, she encounters a stream of visitors, real or imagined, as she attempts to piece together what has happened.

The play explores themes of grief, communication and memory, delving into the difficult truths that often remain unspoken within families. As the narrative unfolds, it creates a fragmented portrait of loss and longing, where certainty becomes increasingly elusive.

Directed by Jack Ferver, Twitch combines striking performance with a surreal, almost dreamlike atmosphere, challenging audiences to question what is real and what is constructed.

Part of the Breaking the Binary Theatre programme, which champions trans and non-binary artists, the production continues the company’s commitment to presenting bold and thought-provoking new work.
