Comedian & actress Lolly Jones brings her own unique character comedy & burlesque hybrid show to this year’s Edinburgh Festival to the Assembly Roxy venue for the month of August. Her previous critically acclaimed sell out Edinburgh shows included ‘I’m Thinking of Leaving Facebook’, ‘Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon’ and ‘Orwell that Ends Well’.  Recently she has reached the final of two competitions; Burlesque Idol & Infinitease – that will be held later this year.

The show, ‘Fifty Shades of May’ lampoons current political figures.  Beginning in 2014 when then Home Secretary Theresa May denied that she was planning to succeed David Cameron during an interview on Desert Island Discs, this comic cabaret will explore the ambition and cunning of our current Prime Minister.  It’s Downing Street on poppers, with a P45, suspenders and a chunky as fuck, metal necklace!

Lip-synching memorable speeches such as “there will be no general election until 2020” and her impassioned pleas to remain in Europe, Lolly will embody the awkwardness of the PM.  Using a mix of clowning, sketch and burlesque, she will discover how the daughter of a vicar rebelled in fields of wheat and developed a thirst for power.
