How to Flirt The TED XXX Talk

Five Star Review from Theatre WeeklyHow to Flirt: The TED XXX Talk is a sparkling romp through dating life _ at least from the perspective of Steve Porter. Delivered by drag king Daisy Doris May, who holds the audience at the Assembly Roxy in the palm of their hand, the show is centred around the larger-than-life character of Steve Porter. This would-be TED Talk dives into the art of flirtation with the kind of wit that makes one laugh out loud with every other word that comes out of their mouth.

From the moment Daisy steps onto the stage as Steve, you’re transported into a world of playful winks, bold advances, and hilariously misfired romantic endeavours. In a performance that oscillates between raucous comedy and painfully genuine portrayals of romantic blunders, Steve makes you root for him and his trademark ‘hoy’s. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a moment where you’re not either laughing uncontrollably or on the verge of cringing—often both at the same time.

The genius of How to Flirt: The TED XXX Talk is in its fine balance: Steve Porter, with all his unabashed energy, makes you fall in love with his quirks one moment, only to leave you recoiling in secondhand embarrassment the next. Yet, there’s an endearing charm to it all that’s impossible to resist.

The show is an undemanding evening affair, perfect for those looking for an easy and fun night out. While the lighter moments have you clutching your sides with laughter, Daisy ensures there’s enough depth to Steve’s character to make it a genuinely captivating watch.

The experience of How to Flirt: The TED XXX Talk is the perfect night out for any group: unpredictable, occasionally cringeworthy, but always absolutely unforgettable. Daisy Doris May’s ability to transform into Steve Porter and weave a narrative of love, humour, and flirtation is nothing short of masterful. This is a night out you won’t soon forget, marked by the dazzling spell Daisy casts as the heart and soul of the performance.
