Joz Norris performs Blink, his madcap, high energy mind-romp at the Jack Dome in the Pleasance Dome at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022.
Norris describes himself mid-show as an absurdist comedian with a grant to produce a piece that explores the human psyche from the Arts Council of England. A dangerous and ultimately rib-tickling combination.
This unfolds in the form of him playing the role of a magician and mentalist in the vein of Derren Brown. One who has a mission; to make the entire audience blink as one. Thus, confirming his power over our minds. Imagine the voice of Matt Berry, the energy of Lee Evans, the fierce intelligence of the aforementioned Brown and then add the desire to present this chaotic comedy beast in the style of Monty Python. It is a brilliantly bonkers hour.
Anarchy reigns whenever his fabulous assistant, Ben, ends up sporadically involved in the show and the audience were fully on board as Norris rollicks along at such a pace that you have to work hard to keep up with him.
Through all of this, it stands out as a clever comedy performance that fools you into thinking it might be hilarious nonsense only to suddenly deliver some poignant food for thought. Try not to blink, you don’t want to  miss it.
