Emma Salvo, who originated the role of Janice in the Olivier Award-winning West End production of Come From Away, will star alongside Olivier Award nominee Sophie-Louise Dann in the world premiere of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice at HOME Manchester this Christmas.
Salvo will play Greta, joining Dann as Lamia in the new musical, which runs from 27 November 2026 to 2 January 2027, with a press night on 2 December.
The newly announced casting completes the ten-strong company for the production, which is billed as a magical new British family musical inspired by Goethe’s classic poem and reimagined through a gender-swapped contemporary lens.
The cast is led by Imogen Craig as Eva, Sophie-Louise Dann as Lamia, Kai Davies as Erik, Mateo Oxley as Fabian, Mark Rice-Oxley as Johan and Emma Salvo as Greta.
Joining them in the ensemble are Jacob Beresford, Adriana Da Cunha, Sharlise Fitzgerald and Josh Rosewood.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice features a book and lyrics by Richard Hough and music by Drama Desk-nominated composer Alexander S. Bermange. The production is directed by Kirk Jameson and produced by Olivier Award winner James Seabright.
Set beneath the Northern Lights, the musical follows a sorcerer and her apprentice as they attempt to save a Scandinavian town facing collapse. As magical powers emerge and chaos unfolds, the story explores friendship, love and the unexpected consequences of newfound abilities.
The fully staged world premiere follows an earlier digital version released in 2021, which received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences.
The production marks the first full staging of the musical, which has been in development since being commissioned by producer James Seabright in 2015.
