Review: The Dawn of Reckoning at White Bear Theatre

After pioneering online new writing with their award-winning show Bare E-ssentials, acclaimed genre explorers Encompass Productions (Chummy, Stasis) return to the White Bear Theatre with Homecoming – A New Theatre Festival.

A celebration of theatre returning to its true home – the stage – Homecoming will feature a diverse line up of exciting new writing, featuring plays from a wide array of London’s very best theatre companies and talent. The festival culminates with the triumphant return of Bare Essentials, the UK’s longest-running and best-reviewed independent new writing night. Tickets for Bare Essentials are on sale now, with the rest of festival line-up to be announced in the coming weeks. Live theatre is back – celebrate its Homecoming!

Artistic Director of Encompass Productions, Jonathan Woodhouse, said “We’re honoured to be invited by the White Bear Theatre to curate a week of new writing during their reopening season. The overwhelmingly positive reaction to our work during the pandemic has been humbling – we’re truly excited to work with our fellow London theatre companies and artists to spread the message that theatre is here to stay, with an incredible line up of new and exciting productions. It is completely fitting that the Homecoming festival will take place at the White Bear Theatre, an essential and pioneering venue for new writing here in the UK”.

Homecoming will be running at the White Bear Theatre, Kennington in London from 10th – 14th November. Tickets are now on sale for Bare Essentials on the 14th November, with the rest of the festival line-up to be announced in the coming weeks.
