Rehearsal images have been released for Tartuffe (Remixed), the new adaptation of Molière’s comedy masterpiece written and directed by Darren Raymond, ahead of its world premiere at Marylebone Theatre this autumn.
Blending razor-sharp comedy, spoken word, music and beautifully crafted rhyming verse, the production reimagines the classic play through the lens of a contemporary Nigerian-Jamaican family.
Oscar and Olivier Award-winning actor Mark Rylance leads the cast as Pastor Terrance Blake. He is joined by Blanche Williams, Sara Mokonen, Christopher Mbaki, Morenike Onajobi, Ivandro Da Cruz Leite, Nakeba Buchanan, Craig Blake and Usifu Jalloh.
The production opens at Marylebone Theatre on 4 September 2026 and runs for a strictly limited seven-week season until 24 October 2026.
Described as a joyful celebration of faith, family, forgiveness and the courage to speak truth to power, the story follows the outspoken Afolabi-Williams family as they gather for a wedding celebration.
When a charismatic man of God who has gained the complete trust of family patriarch Oga Afolabi moves into the household, old tensions resurface, loyalties are tested and faith itself becomes a battleground. As the wedding day approaches, the family must uncover the truth before everything they hold dear is destroyed.
Darren Raymond, recipient of Shakespeare’s Globe’s Sam Wanamaker Award 2025, both adapts and directs the production.
Tartuffe (Remixed) is presented by Marylebone Theatre, Patrick Myles & David Luff and Shakespeare Road in partnership with Intermission. The production is co-produced with Alexander “Sandy” Marshall, Anthology Theatre, Glass Half Full, Rupert Gavin/Mallory Factor, Tulchin Bartner Productions and Wild Yak.
