The Menier Chocolate Factory has released first look rehearsal images for its upcoming major revival of Equus by Peter Shaffer.

The newly shared photographs offer an early glimpse of director Lindsay Posner’s production as it prepares to open in May, with performances running at the Menier Chocolate Factory before transferring to Theatre Royal Bath.

The revival is presented in a co-production with Theatre Royal Bath Productions and follows the venue’s recent successes with The Holy Rosenbergs, The Producers and Sabrage.

Shaffer’s psychological drama centres on psychiatrist Martin Dysart, who is tasked with uncovering what drove a teenage boy to commit a shocking act of violence, while confronting his own doubts about normality, passion and freedom.

The production features a cast led by Toby Stephens as psychiatrist Martin Dysart and Noah Valentine as Alan Strang, alongside Amanda Abbington, Bella Aubin, Emma Cunniffe, Paula James, Colin Mace, Ed Mitchell and David Rubin.
