Review: A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Globe Theatre

Shakespeare’s Globe releases photos of Midsummer Mechanicals in rehearsal, which opens in Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on 28 July, running until 21 August.

An hilarious new follow-up to the play-within-a-play from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Midsummer Mechanicals follows Peter Quince’s troupe of actors attempting to recapture the success of their first hit show, Pyramus and Thisbe. Midsummer Mechanicals is filled with fun, mayhem and an eye-popping final, perfect for the young and young at heart alike.

This is the first time the Globe is premiering a full-scale production for families and young people. Midsummer Mechanicals is a co-production with Splendid Productions, directed by Lucy Cuthbertson and Kerry Frampton and written by Kerry Frampton and Ben Hales. The cast includes Melody Brown as Patience Snout, Sam Glen as Francis Flute, Kerry Frampton as Nicholas Bottom and Jamal Franklin as Peter Quince.
