New production images have been released for the London engagement of Disney’s High School Musical, which begins performances tonight at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre ahead of its press night on 20 October.
The production arrives in the capital following its run at Lowry in Salford and marks the first UK non-replica staging of the beloved musical based on the Disney Channel phenomenon.
Leading the London company is Harry Judd as Coach Bolton, taking over the role from Jason Donovan. He joins Disney icon KayCee Stroh as Ms Darbus, alongside Tobias Turley as Troy Bolton, Leonor Correia as Gabriella Montez, Caitlin Tipping as Sharpay Evans and Luke Bayer as Ryan Evans.
The cast also includes Char Burnett, Jordan Benjamin, Simeon Beckett, Olivia O’Connor, Yna Tresvalles and Curtis Patrick, alongside a company featuring Alexander Black, Eleanor Bye, Harriet Caplan-Dean, Alison Driver, Conor Luke Drury, Mary Francis, Sonia Gil-Lubeiro, Tamsin January, Joseph Lennox, Lucas Morlotti, Katie Mulligan, André Phipps, Meg Silsby, Kade Stenson, Ethan Vijn and Eddie Zickerman.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the original film, the stage musical features a book by David Simpatico, with music adapted, arranged and produced by Bryan Louiselle. Audiences can expect iconic songs including Breaking Free, We’re All In This Together, Get’cha Head in the Game and Stick to the Status Quo.
The production is co-directed by Hope Mill Theatre founders Joseph Houston and William Whelton, with choreography by Aaron Renfree.
Having inspired a generation since its debut in 2006, Disney’s High School Musical follows Troy, Gabriella and their classmates as they challenge expectations, pursue their passions and discover the importance of being true to themselves.
The London run continues at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre until 3 January 2027.
