First look production photos have been released for Jesus Christ Superstar, starring Sam Ryder as Jesus in his stage debut at The London Palladium.
The production is now playing until 5 September 2026, with an official opening night set for 7 July.
It has also been confirmed that the show will transfer for a limited 12-week engagement at Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 16 October 2026 to 9 January 2027.
Sam Ryder leads the cast alongside Tyrone Huntley as Judas Iscariot, Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene and David Thaxton as Pontius Pilate.
The role of King Herod is shared by a rotating line-up at The London Palladium including Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Richard Armitage, Boy George, Layton Williams and Julian Clary.
Further casting for the Drury Lane run includes Matt Bomer, Rob Brydon, Reece Shearsmith, Bob The Drag Queen, Michael Ball, Simon Russell Beale and Omid Djalili, with Layton Williams also returning to the role.
The musical features lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and is directed by Tim Sheader with choreography by Drew McOnie and design by Tom Scutt.
This staging reunites the creative team behind the Olivier Award-winning 2016 production, originally mounted at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
The iconic rock musical charts the final days of Jesus Christ through the eyes of Judas, featuring a celebrated score including “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”, “Gethsemane” and “Superstar”.
Following its London engagements, the production will embark on a UK tour from 11 February to 23 October 2027.
