Rehearsal images have been released for the highly anticipated return of Fawlty Towers – The Play, which opens at the Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, for a strictly limited summer season from 24 June to 13 September 2025.
The production, adapted for the stage by comedy legend John Cleese, brings to life three of the most iconic episodes from the original BBC sitcom, including ‘The Hotel Inspector’, ‘The Germans’, and ‘Communication Problems’.
Directed by Caroline Jay Ranger, the cast is led by Danny Bayne as the irascible Basil Fawlty, with Mia Austen as Sybil, Hemi Yeroham reprising his role as Manuel, and Joanne Clifton as Polly.
Joining them are Paul Nicholas as The Major and Helen Lederer as the unforgettable Mrs Richards.
John Cleese said: “I’m thrilled with the top-class group of comedy actors that we’ve assembled for Fawlty Towers‘ return to the West End stage this June. September this year marks exactly 50 years since the first ever episode was broadcast on the BBC and here we are, all these years later, still making theatres rock with laughter.”
The ensemble cast also includes Greg Haiste, Emily Winter, Dawn Buckland, John Hasler, Adam Elliott, Neil Stewart, Josie Brightwell, Ashleigh Harvey, Ben Jacobson, Matthew Gordon, and Raymond Rose.
Set in a fictional Torquay hotel, the play captures the chaos and charm of the original series, with Basil’s frantic attempts to impress hotel inspectors, a party of Germans, and the ever-demanding Mrs Richards.
The creative team features set and costume design by Liz Ascroft, lighting by Ian Scott, and casting by Anne Vosser.
Following its West End run, the production will embark on a UK tour from 30 September 2025 to 8 August 2026.
