New rehearsal images have been released for In Praise of Love, Terence Rattigan’s poignant drama, opening at Orange Tree Theatre.

Directed by Amelia Sears, the production stars Claire Price, Dominic Rowan, Daniel Abelson, and Joe Edgar. The newly released images, captured by Ellie Kurttz, offer a glimpse into the emotionally charged world of the play.

In Praise of Love runs from 24 May to 5 July 2025, with press night scheduled for Tuesday 3 June at 7pm.

Set in 1973 England, the play follows Estonian refugee Lydia and her Marxist literary critic husband Sebastian. Both former wartime intelligence operatives, they are masters of concealment—hiding truths from friends, family, and each other.

Their fragile world begins to unravel with the arrival of Lydia’s admirer, a best-selling American author, igniting a cascade of revelations.

A deeply moving and perceptive work, In Praise of Love is Rattigan’s penultimate play, inspired by the real-life relationship between Rex Harrison and Kay Kendall.

Orange Tree audiences previously embraced Rattigan’s French Without Tears and While the Sun Shines. This production offers a rare opportunity to experience one of his most haunting and provocative works.
