Rehearsal images have been released for the UK premiere of The Wanderers, the acclaimed play by Anna Ziegler, ahead of its run at Marylebone Theatre from 17 October to 29 November 2025.
Directed by Igor Golyak, the production follows a sold-out, critically acclaimed Off-Broadway run and features a stellar cast including Anna Popplewell, Katerina Tannenbaum, Paksie Vernon, Alexander Forsyth, and Eddie Toll.
The newly released rehearsal shots, captured by photographer Mark Senior, offer a glimpse into the layered storytelling and emotional depth of the production. The full set of images is available to download now.
In The Wanderers, reality and fiction collide in a writer’s studio. Abe, a prizewinning novelist, attempts to capture his parents’ untold history while his own life begins to unravel. When Hollywood actress Julia Cheever begins writing to him, their electric correspondence blurs the boundaries between imagination and betrayal.
As Abe’s parents, Schmuli and Esther, materialise from his pages—young, passionate, and caught between tradition and desire—the play asks: are these memories or inventions? And whose hand truly holds the pen?
Anna Ziegler said:
“I’m thrilled that The Wanderers is making its London debut at Marylebone Theatre. The play is about connection – how fragile it can be, how surprising it can be – and I can’t think of a better, more culturally-diverse city to ask these questions in. I hope audiences here will find something of themselves in the characters’ struggles, as so many did in New York.”
Director Igor Golyak added:
“Directing The Wanderers in London is an exciting new chapter for this play. Anna’s writing captures both the intimacy of private lives and the larger, more existential search for meaning. My aim is to bring those two scales together on stage – to create a production that feels both deeply personal and expansive, something audiences can carry with them long after they leave the theatre.”
The creative team includes Jan Pappelbaum (set design), Sasha Ageeva (costume design), Alex Musgrave (lighting design), Anna Drubich (composer), and Julian Starr (sound design). Casting is by Lucy Casson, with Harry Armytage as Production Manager. The production is managed by Alex Turner and produced by Sarig Peker and Keren Misgav.
