Rehearsal images have been released for the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of Till the Stars Come Down, ahead of its West End transfer to the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

The production, co-produced with Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Fiery Angel, Short Street Productions and Access Entertainment, will run from 1 July to 27 September 2025.

Audiences will have the unique opportunity to sit on stage and immerse themselves in what The Guardian calls the “wedding of the year” ★★★★★, with tickets starting from just £20.

The cast includes Dorothy Atkinson as Aunty Carol, Lucy Black as Hazel, Adrian Bower as John, Julian Kostov as Marek, Aisling Loftus as Maggie, Sinéad Matthews as Sylvia, Ruby Thompson as Leanne, Philip Whitchurch as Uncle Pete and Alan Williams as Tony.

Also joining the company are Lillie Babb, Elodie Blomfield and Cadence Williams as Sarah, with Tony Bell, Rachel Marwood, Lee Rufford and Holly Sumpton covering various understudy roles.

Written by Beth Steel, Till the Stars Come Down is described as a “passionate, heartbreaking and hilarious portrayal of a larger-than-life family.” The Financial Times praised it for its “sharp comic observation” ★★★★, while WhatsOnStage called it “laugh out loud funny” ★★★★★.

Steel, a former writer-in-residence at the National Theatre, previously penned The House of Shades, Wonderland, and Ditch. She won the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright in 2014.

The production is directed by Olivier Award-winner Bijan Sheibani, whose previous credits include Barber Shop Chronicles and A Taste of Honey. Time Out described the show as “beautifully observed and bruisingly hilarious” ★★★★.

“It’s Sylvia and Marek’s wedding and you’re all invited,” teases the synopsis. “But as the vodka flows and dances are shared, passions boil over and the limits of love are tested.”

The creative team includes Samal Blak (set and costume), Paule Constable (lighting), Aline David (choreography and movement), Gareth Fry (sound), and Elin Schofield (revival direction), among others.

Originally commissioned by the National Theatre, Till the Stars Come Down premiered in January 2024 and was nominated for Best New Play at the 2024 Olivier Awards following a sold-out run.
