Lionsgate UK has released the first trailer and posters for the upcoming musical comedy The Debut, written and directed by Oscar nominee and BAFTA winner Jesse Eisenberg.

The film is set for release in UK and Irish cinemas, with the newly unveiled trailer offering audiences a first glimpse at Eisenberg’s latest work.

The Debut follows a shy woman who is unexpectedly cast in a local production of an original musical, before becoming immersed in the high-stakes world of community theatre.

Under the influence of a strong-willed and enigmatic director, she begins to lose herself in both the role and the production.

The film stars Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, alongside Halle Bailey, Havana Rose Liu, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper, Maulik Pancholy and Bernadette Peters.

Eisenberg has also written the film’s original songs, working alongside music supervisor Steven Gizicki and executive music producer Bill Sherman.

The creative team includes choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and cinematography by Drew Daniels, with producers Ali Herting, Dave McCary and Emma Stone.
