Acclaimed British sculptor Frances Segelman will sculpt actor, writer and presenter Richard E. Grant live before an audience at St Paul’s Church Covent Garden, known as The Actors’ Church, on Sunday 18 October 2026.
The exclusive event will offer audiences a rare opportunity to witness the creation of a new portrait sculpture in real time, as Segelman works directly from Grant to capture his likeness and provide insight into the collaborative relationship between artist and sitter.
Segelman is renowned for her speed, precision and spontaneity as a live sculptor, having created portraits of some of Britain’s most recognisable figures across theatre, film, music, politics, sport and royalty. Her notable subjects have included HM The King, the late Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Joanna Lumley, Sir Simon Rattle, Joan Collins and Julian Fellowes.
Richard E. Grant brings his own distinguished career across stage and screen to the event. While audiences are familiar with Grant as a performer, this evening places him in the role of artistic subject as his portrait takes shape before them.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to charity, with Grant selecting Longfield Hospice in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, as his nominated cause. The hospice provides specialist care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness across the local community.
Following the sculpting session, audiences will be invited to stay for a Q&A with Segelman and Grant, where they will discuss the creative process, the challenges and rewards of working from life, and the unique dynamic between artist and sitter.
The evening will also feature an exhibition of works by painter Victoria Perloff and sculptor Josette Perloff, offering audiences a broader showcase of contemporary portraiture and figurative art.
