Fringe First Award-winning solo show Parasocial Activity will make its London premiere at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 13 to 30 January 2027.

Written and performed by Scottish actor Briony Martha in her debut solo show, the production arrives in the capital after a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it earned a 2026 Fringe First Award.

Presented by GALLUS Productions and Silly Mission Productions, Parasocial Activity is a dark comedy that explores celebrity obsession, internet culture and the blurred boundaries between fantasy and reality.

The play follows Jenny McGuire, a Scottish actor living in London whose chance encounter with her favourite celebrity, James McAvoy, sparks an increasingly obsessive journey through desire, online culture and imagined relationships.

Described as “Bridget Jones’ Diary” meets Netflix’s “You”, the production examines what happens when the person we think we know becomes more real to us than the people around us.

The show’s creator puts celebrity fandom and parasocial relationships under the microscope, while exploring themes of loneliness, ambition and identity with both humour and unease.

Commenting on the London transfer, the production’s protagonist Jenny McGuire said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to bring Parasocial Activity to London! Edinburgh’s had its fill of me, now it’s time for a whole new audience to hear my story. I’ve had a taste of the spotlight and I’m not about to give it up now. Parasocial Activity is funny, it’s twisted, and there’s plenty you won’t see coming. So come and see what all the fuss is about, guys I promise you – this really is the greatest love story of all time”

The production has already attracted strong praise, including a verdict from James McAvoy himself, who described it as “A bloody Triumph”.

The creative team includes Briony Martha, producer Hannah Leonard for Silly Mission Productions, producer Shelley Middler for GALLUS Productions, director Megan Brewer and technician Arianna Munoz.

Parasocial Activity runs at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 13 to 30 January 2027, with Press Night scheduled for Friday 15 January 2027 at 7.30pm.
