Southwark Playhouse has announced the full cast for Relative Motion, a new play by British-South African writer Stephanie Greenwood, which runs in The Little at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 11 November to 5 December 2026.
A two-hander blending romantic comedy, psychological thriller and black comedy, Relative Motion follows physics student Sam and aspiring novelist Paul after a chance encounter on a London commuter train develops into an unexpected romance.
As their relationship deepens, subtle compromises and shifting power dynamics begin to emerge, gradually exposing the development of coercive control and raising questions about love, memory and perspective.
The production stars playwright Stephanie Greenwood as Sam. Greenwood’s previous writing credits include It’s Beautiful, Over There and How Not to Fund a Honeymoon, both of which enjoyed successful runs and critical acclaim following appearances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Joining her is Sean Hart as Paul. Hart returns to Southwark Playhouse following his acclaimed performance in Afterglow and is known for screen work including A Small Light, The Devil’s Hour and Harlots, as well as stage performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Award-winning British-German director Wiebke Green directs the production, which examines the stories people tell themselves about relationships and how easily the moment of change can go unnoticed.
Relative Motion will run at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 11 November to 5 December 2026, with a press night scheduled for 17 November.
