The full cast and creative team have been announced for the world premiere of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice at Buxton Opera House.
The visually spectacular family production is presented by Cahoots NI and Buxton Opera House, in association with New 42 and the New Victory Theater.
The brand-new adaptation blends live magic, original music, imaginative storytelling and striking puppetry, and will run at Buxton Opera House from Tuesday 2 to Saturday 6 June 2026, with a gala night on Thursday 4 June.
The production will then travel to New York for an engagement in early 2027.
Returning to Buxton Opera House are Jennifer Hague as Marit, Philippa O’Hara as Gunda, James Grimm as Dad and Iris Schmid as Puppeteer.
Making their Buxton debuts are Orla Gormley as Mum, Nimshi Kongolo as The Sorcerer and Christina Nelson as Miss Fumble.
The creative team is led by writer Charles Way, director Paul Bosco McEneaney and puppetry designer and director Helen Foan.
Music for the production is produced by Score Draw, with songs composed by Fiona O’Kane and a score by Fiona O’Kane and Neve Hutchinson.
Designs come from Diana Ennis for set and costume design, Guy Barrett for illusion design, Simon Bond for lighting design and David Morgan for prop and set design.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is set in a world of enchanted forests, snowy skies and northern lights, following an ordinary schoolgirl who discovers extraordinary powers when the Sorcerer begins searching for an apprentice.
The production is supported by Arts Council England and Culture Ireland.
